With every long weekend comes the fear of losing out on the good rapport you have at your workplace. According to multiple studies, over 40% of working millennials have a stressful time juggling work and their holiday. Being busy is always a good thing, but being busy when you are supposed to be relaxing? That is never okay. Here is how you can kick back, relax and leave work where work is supposed to be left!
1. Make your travel plans early
Sounds a little tricky, but when you make your travel plans, make sure you have at least a month’s gap before you absolutely have to leave! Make a plan and once you finalise it, let the people at work know! Once you do this, you can go ahead and schedule work for your holiday! Stress free and chill, right?
2. You will learn how to get things done on time
One of my favourite things to do while going on holiday is to make sure I get more than enough work done before I leave. Not only did this help in getting work off my chest for during the break, it helped me do some extra work for when I get back as well. One of the reasons why planning ahead is not a bad thing!
3. Do not feel guilty
When you are at work and cannot finish all the tasks given to you, it is more than justified to feel guilty. However, when you are on holiday and cannot finish everything you said you would, do NOT think you have to apologise. Let what was not done alone and if you can put it off to when you get back, then put it off! One of the ways you can ensure this happens is by turning off all work related notifications. The quieter the phone, the chiller the holiday!
4. Say no
So often we have heard people tell us saying no is really not that hard. How many times have you heard these people and looked at them, thinking of how hard saying no is? Saying no while working is still fine, but when you say okay to everything when on holiday, it disrupts your peace and mind. Learn to say no and make sure you stick to your resolution! Always helps in the long run!
5. You learn how to have a life
When you take a break and just kick back, you learn to finally HAVE a life. Your well being is just as much a priority as your job and when you learn to balance both, you know you made it to the good life! At least, that is what I think is the bigger picture.!
Leading a healthy life and happy work balance is never easy. However, if you are addicted to work and travelling, then these tips might work. Comment and tell us what works for you when are on break and working at the same time!
