Tarang Sanchar: A Govt Initiative To Check Mobile Towers At Your Nearest Place
Ministry of Communications, India, recently launched an initiative Tarang Sanchar which shares information on mobile towers and EMF compliance. This portal specifically allows the citizens of India to track the radiation levels emitted from the mobile towers in any particular area.
One can also check whether the electromagnetic field emission complies with the actual norms.
Union Telecom Minister (Minister of Communications), Manoj Sinha said in an official statement: “By the click of a button, information on the EMF compliance status of mobile towers can be accessed. Detailed information about any tower site, if requested, will be sent on email to the users. Additionally, any person can request for EMF emission measurement at a location by paying a nominal fee of Rs 4,000 online.”
He also added saying that this portal would probably clear the “myths and misconceptions” about mobile towers and the emissions from them.
In an often circulated news that mobile towers caused ill health issues, the minister clarified saying that “Such radiation has no adverse impact on human health. During the last 30 years, the WHO has conducted some 25,000 campaigns on this subject, and has never stated that mobile tower radiation has an adverse impact on human health.”
These requested tests are been conducted by TERM (Telecom Enforcement Resource and Monitoring) which is a field unit of DoT and the reports will be provided on request.
