Entrepreneurs know that unless and until a certain amount of work is completed on a daily basis, it becomes extremely hard for the startup to succeed. But very few entrepreneurs agree that in order to achieve the set goal, the environment and the work ethic in the office must also create a productive feel.
The moods and productivity of any employee are influenced deeply by the environment in which they work. Plus small measures can help greatly in boosting productivity levels.
Here are a few tips on how you can increase employee morale and productivity levels with one stone
1. Windows, Lights, and Ventilation
Although this is hard to achieve given the current scenario of not having enough space to build a proper office, having multiple windows for natural light helps. Proper lighting system to make the room seem brighter and good ventilation for air circulation affects the mood of the employees. It is scientifically proven that bright rooms make people feel alive and active.
2. Remove the white noise
Have bright wallpapers, comfortable chairs, funky quotes and posters all around your office to give the workspace a jovial and lively feel. The atmosphere in your office will directly affect the enthusiasm of the workers to produce better quality work. A dull office makes the workers sleepy and unproductive.
3. Coffee, Tea Snacks and Breaks
Let’s admit it, it is pretty hard to go a day without our caffeine fix. Supplying your workers with tea, coffee and snacks to munch on during the day is probably the cheapest and easiest way to motivate them to work better. Especially during rainy and winter seasons, a warm drink will wake everyone up and it just feels good.
Breaks help cushion monotonous workloads and come back refreshed.
4. Nap rooms
A lot of corporate offices are building on the concept of having a power nap once a day to get the brain juices flowing. Studies have shown people who take power naps get more work done and are generally more active compared to those who power through the day. Ten-minute naps are just what you need to increase alertness, improve creativity and boost productivity.
5. Move, Talk, Interact
Workplace friendships increase productivity and decrease stress. Don’t talk to your colleagues about work. Branch out and meet people from other departments. As the team leader or CEO of the startup, encourage your employees and fellow workers to move around and have friendly relations with everyone. Office outing and group lunches also boost job satisfaction.
Simple steps taken at different stages of work can improve the production and the quality of the content produced.
