Twitter announced a faster mobile web version of its site, called Twitter Lite. This app takes up less than a megabyte and additionally comes with a data saver mode that blurs images and videos until they are tapped.
It is basically a data optimized version of the regular Twitter service that loads faster and will work well on limited internet connections. Even though a web app is not as powerful as a native app, still Twitter said that it had opted for this approach because it can make its services accessible to new users.
It works on almost all smartphones and tablets without an app store or Google Play account. You won’t need an email account either. Get accessed to Twitter Lite via the mobile web. This app is also available in less than 1MB so that it suits well for cheaper handsets that don’t have much storage.
You can add this to your Home screen too and get notifications even when you are not on Twitter Lite.
Many users worry about heavy data consumption, for them, Lite comes to their rescue. Twitter Lite uses little of your data and often goes to data saving mode. The key features of this include – Tweets, direct messages, trends, media uploads, notifications and more.
This feature is available globally and you can try it right now by clicking mobile.twitter.com.
