Odisha-Based Startup Bon V Aero Launches India’s First Fully Autonomous Logistics Drone Service, Air Orca!

Odisha’s innovative startup, Bon V Aero, has made a significant leap in the logistics sector with the launch of Air Orca, India’s first fully autonomous logistics drone service. This groundbreaking initiative aims to address the diverse logistics needs across the country and was unveiled at an event attended by prominent venture capitalist Tim Draper, marking a major milestone for both Bon V Aero and India’s logistics landscape.

A Major Milestone for Indian Logistics

“Air Orca’s launch represents significant progress for India’s logistics landscape and for us as an Odisha-based company,” stated Satyabrata Sathapathy, CEO of Bon V Aero. He emphasized that developing this drone in India allows for customization to meet the unique challenges faced in the country. Draper praised the innovation, noting, “Autonomous drones like Air Orca offer practical, flexible solutions for modern logistics, with use cases spanning disaster response to high-altitude defense missions.”

Engineered for India’s Unique Logistics Needs

Entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India, Air Orca features advanced autonomous capabilities tailored for challenging logistics environments where traditional transport methods may fall short. The drone is envisioned as a first-responder tool capable of delivering relief supplies in post-disaster scenarios and providing crucial support during emergencies.

Bon V Aero has already set a world record as the first Indian company to lift a 30 kg payload at Umling La Pass in Ladakh, situated at an altitude of 19,024 feet. “This feat highlights Air Orca’s capabilities, outshining helicopters that often struggle at such high altitudes,” said Sathapathy.

Expanding Applications Across Key Sectors

Bon V Aero aims to utilize Air Orca across various sectors including healthcare, e-commerce, military logistics, and disaster management. The company envisions the drone supporting critical logistics needs on a global scale. Designed to operate reliably under extreme conditions, Air Orca exemplifies the innovative potential of India’s drone industry in reshaping logistics across both civilian and defense sectors.

Future Prospects and Market Impact

As Bon V Aero continues to develop and refine Air Orca’s capabilities, the startup is poised to make a significant impact on India’s logistics industry. The introduction of autonomous drones could revolutionize how goods are transported, particularly in remote or hard-to-reach areas. With increasing demand for efficient and timely delivery solutions, Air Orca is well-positioned to meet these challenges head-on.

Conclusion

The launch of Air Orca by Bon V Aero marks a pivotal moment not only for the startup but also for India’s broader technological landscape. By harnessing advanced drone technology tailored to local needs, Bon V Aero is setting a precedent for innovation in logistics. As the company scales its operations and explores new applications for its drones, it contributes to establishing India as a key player in the global drone industry and enhances its capabilities in addressing critical logistical challenges.

Apple to Shift Entire US iPhone Assembly to India by 2026

Published

Apple - StartupStories

Apple is set to relocate all assembly of iPhones destined for the US market from China to India by the end of 2026, marking its biggest manufacturing shift in decades. The move is driven by escalating US-China trade tensions and steep tariffs—up to 145% on Chinese imports—making Chinese assembly increasingly costly for Apple. Although some smartphone imports are temporarily exempt, a 20% duty still applies to Chinese-made iPhones entering the US.

India, in contrast, offers a more favorable trade environment, with a paused 26% reciprocal tariff and ongoing negotiations for a bilateral trade deal with the US that could shield Indian exports from future levies. Apple plans to more than double its current iPhone output in India, aiming to assemble over 60 million units annually for the US market. The company already produces about 25% of its global iPhones in India, working with partners like Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron.

This shift is part of Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its supply chain and reduce reliance on China amid geopolitical risks. However, the transition’s success will depend on how quickly India can scale up its manufacturing capabilities and the outcome of ongoing trade negotiations.

PhonePe

PhonePe’s PINCODE app has launched a 24×7 online medicine delivery service in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Pune, promising delivery of both prescription and over-the-counter medicines within 10 minutes from nearby local medical shops. Unlike conventional e-pharmacies that use dark stores, PINCODE partners exclusively with neighborhood pharmacies, enabling faster deliveries and supporting local businesses in the digital economy.

Customers without prescriptions can select a “no prescription” option when ordering; a qualified doctor then provides a free teleconsultation and issues a digital prescription compliant with telemedicine guidelines, ensuring seamless access to medicines. The app offers competitive pricing by passing discounts from local pharmacies directly to customers and charges no delivery fees.

PINCODE’s hyperlocal model enhances healthcare accessibility and convenience while empowering local pharmacies, helping them remain integral to their communities and stimulating local economic growth. Launched in 2023, the app focuses on quick commerce with an emphasis on speed, reliability, and supporting local sellers.

In summary, PhonePe’s PINCODE app is transforming medicine delivery in major Indian cities by combining ultra-fast 10-minute delivery, free doctor consultations, and a hyperlocal sourcing model that benefits both consumers and neighborhood pharmacies.
