March is an exclusive month for women and social media giant Facebook has some big plans to support women founded Startups in India. Facebook has announced its new program “SheLeadsTech” for women entrepreneurs in India to motivate and nurture Startups founded or co-founded by women in India.
According to Facebook’s own survey, four out of five women who were interviewed wanted to have their own Startup. And the numbers suggest that out of 800 Startup companies existing in India, there are only 72 which have been founded by women.
This important announcement came ahead of Women’s Day, 8 March, which aims to bring women in India on board to make India’s digital revolution in a bigger way.
“SheLeadsTech” is a program that will enable women founders to get access to a year long program that provides tools, mentorship and resources which help them overcome the barriers they face.
This program will also grant access to “FBStart” which permits access to FBStart tools through interaction with a pool of mentors.
In a survey, it was revealed that nearly 87% of the women agreed that having access to the right tools and support helped them enhance their business.
Facebook will have monthly sessions for the women founders. The Facebook team will be assisting them with networking. This will help the women founded Startups build up their brands.
