Social media giant Facebook recently launched Facebook 360 for watching 360-degree videos and photos. In recent times, Facebook had been emphasizing on sharing videos with the launch of Facebook Live. Now, Facebook now supports uploading of 360-degree videos and photos.

All you need to have is Samsung Gear VR headset. With the help of this, you can now use Facebook’s “Facebook 360” app for viewing immerse content.

Facebook 360 has four feeds – an ‘Explore’ view with recommended content, a list of 360-degree content from your friends, saved videos and photos and a timeline of your own media.

The app also allows one to save videos and watch it later. You can also share them to your profile page, add emoji reactions to any of your videos in the 360 apps.

To be clear, this app does not allow you to browse your News Feed or do any other Facebook activities, the app solely emphasizes on viewing videos.

Meanwhile, Facebook made an interesting choice by launching the app over Gear VR instead of Oculus Rift. This is because Facebook helped developed this version of Gear VR, so this is not strange to hear. Launching the app over VR rather than Rift is thus a strategic decision. Once enough people get hooked to VR, they will move to the more premium Oculus headset as well.
