1. WiFi doesn’t mean what you think it does
Despite common belief, WiFi doesn’t expand to mean Wireless Fidelity. When the word was first made public, it was designed as a logo by Wi-Fi Alliance in the year 1999. The moment WiFi came to everyone’s notice, people started drawing parallels to the similar sounding acronym hi-fi, which means high fidelity. Annoyed with the comparison, Alliance wanted the term to be dropped, but by 2000, Wireless Fidelity became so widely used, it was unwillingly accepted as WiFi’s expansion!
2. Strange devices used as WiFi hotspots
With WiFi being used by people all over the world with increasing frequency, records say, by the end of 2017, there would be close to 9 billion WiFi devices all over the world! Did you know, there is a strange list of devices which are used as hotspots across the globe? Ranking on the first position on this list is the Masaya Volcano, Nicaragua. This active volcano is commonly called Mouth of Hell and is the first of its kind to double up as a hotspot because close to 80 sensors were installed inside the volcano. Your phones really aren’t the only things which could be used as a hotspot, clearly!
3. You are the biggest WiFi blocker
Since WiFi runs by using radio waves, it comes as no surprise water doesn’t promote this software, right? If you expand that thought process a bit more, you are also a WiFi blocker because of the very same reason. Didn’t get this? Think again. Since 75 % of our body is made of water, the above theory stands tested, don’t you think? If you still don’t believe us, then sit between your router and computer. The moment you experience weak signals, you will know we are right!
4. Singapore has the fastest Wi-Fi connection
According to the 2018 World Broadband Speed League, Singapore has the fastest WiFi connection in the world. At 60.39 megabytes per second (Mbps,) the WiFi connection in Singapore is five times stronger than the global average of 9.1 Mbps. Yemen, on the other hand, is ranked 200th on the list and has the slowest Wi-Fi connection at 0.31 Mbps. You know where you should go for the fastest wireless connection in the world.
5. WiFi was created in Hawaii
While people still dispute this fact, Hawaii is said to be the birthplace of WiFi. Originally called AlohaNET, a computer networking system developed the initial wireless network at the University of Hawaii. However, this wasn’t given as much credit as it should have been because two decades later, NCR Corporation and AT&T Corporation invented WaveLAN, which is considered the true precursor to WiFi. In 1997, the first version of the IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol was released. If only the world accepted AlohaNET as the original WiFi. Sigh.

Paytm parent One 97 Communications has granted fresh employee stock options (ESOPs) worth about ₹16.7 crore to eligible staff under its 2019 ESOP scheme, highlighting a stronger push toward employee ownership and retention. The grant covers 1,23,908 options, each convertible into one equity share with an exercise price of ₹9, significantly below the prevailing market price. At Paytm’s recent share price levels, this translates into a notional value of around ₹16.6–16.7 crore for employees.
The ESOPs are designed to align employee incentives with Paytm’s long-term growth, giving high-performing team members a direct stake in future value creation. As the options vest and are exercised, eligible employees can participate in potential upside from Paytm’s expanding fintech and payments ecosystem, subject to standard ESOP vesting conditions. The company has also confirmed that the scheme complies with SEBI’s share-based benefit regulations.
This ESOP grant comes soon after Paytm’s payments arm secured key RBI approvals to operate as a payment aggregator across online, offline and cross-border transactions, strengthening its regulated payments stack. Coupled with rising operating revenues, the fresh stock options signal management’s continued focus on attracting and retaining top talent even as profitability remains under pressure. Both updates are available through Software Update settings, and Apple will support iOS 18.7 for only a limited duration, eventually encouraging all users to transition to the latest platform. This dual update strategy ensures every iPhone user can safely update their device for a seamless and secure experience in 2025.
Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 introduces a new privacy-focused safety feature for FaceTime that automatically pauses both video and audio calls when nudity is detected on camera. This feature, discovered in the iOS 26 developer beta, is part of Apple’s expanded Communication Safety suite aimed primarily at protecting children from exposure to inappropriate content during live video chats. When nudity is detected, FaceTime freezes the call and displays a warning message, allowing users to either resume or end the call.
The nudity detection runs entirely on-device using advanced machine learning, ensuring that no images or videos are sent to Apple’s servers, thereby preserving user privacy. Although originally designed for child accounts as part of family safety tools announced at WWDC 2025, the feature currently appears active on all accounts in the beta version, including adults, which has sparked discussion about its broader application. Apple stresses that this local processing method keeps user data private while providing real-time protection against sensitive content during FaceTime calls.

While the FaceTime nudity detection feature has not yet been confirmed for the final public release, its presence in the beta underscores Apple’s commitment to balancing user safety with privacy in an increasingly connected world.
