Fast food to be delivered on Fast trains!
Superfast train Rajdhani and Shatabdi will now cater food from fast food joints. Indian Railways will now deliver your favorite fast food on their trains in place of their mandatory meals.
Fast food chains like McDonals, Dominos, KFC, and Bikanerwala have collaborated with the Indian Railways to deliver food on the trains. The passengers can order their choice of food online and mention which station they would like their food to be delivered.
This genius advertising move will bring a much-needed change in the food services provided by the Indian Railways. Launched yesterday, so far only Dominos have been successful in delivering food to passengers on board trains. Many other fast food chains like McDonalds and KFC are yet to start delivery services.
Other partner vendors include Switz Food, Only Alibaba, Haldiram, Nirula’s and PizzaHut. Passengers can order food through 3 methods through their website, call or SMS. Passengers with confirmed seats can visit www.ecatering.irctc.co.in or call 1323 or send an SMS with their PNR number to 139. A 45-day trial was held last year in the Patna Rajdhani, Delhi-Mumbai August Kranti Rajdhani, Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi and Howrah-Puri Shatabdi trains.
This move from an advertising and public relations point of view is brilliant not just for the fast food joints but also for the Indian Railways. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and the Indian Railways have been working hard to improve the passenger experience on trains. This includes better maintenance of the washrooms and cleanliness inside the trains.
