Lawerence Joseph Ellison, the CEO and co founder of Oracle Operations, is known for being quite an out of the box thinker. As of August 2017, he was ranked as the fifth wealthiest man in the world and according to Forbes, he was the 7 wealthiest man wold over. With his penchant for all things bright and beautiful, here are a few things one still doesn’t know the story behind the founder of Oracle.

2. He owns an island!
Ellison owns the sixth largest island in Hawaii. He brought the island of Lana’i, or at least 98% of it, in the year 2012.
3. He has only tweeted once in his life!
Despite having over 50,000 followers on Twitter, Ellison has only tweeted once since joining the online social media platform!

4. He got in trouble in San Jose.
According to San Jose laws, planes weighing over 75,000 lbs aren’t permitted and neither is landing between 11.30 AM and 6.00 PM. In the year 2000, Ellison annoyed everyone by flying his plan. However, he refuted all rumours by saying his plane weighed within the city limits. Later, Ellison sued the City of San Jose in 2000 after he was cited for violating rules around night takeoffs and landings at the San Jose Mineta International Airport. He won.
5. He spent $ 200 million on a yacht!
Ellison went a whee bit overboard by buying a $ 200 million yacht, The Rising Sun. According to reports, he wanted to beat the size of Paul Allen’s seacraft, Octopus! Ellison eventually sold Rising Sun to media mogul David Geffen.
6. He was the inspiration for Tony Stark
When Robert Dowery Jr. played the role of Tony Stark in Iron Man, he drew inspiration from Larry Ellison! Incidentally, he drew inspiration from Ellon Musk as well!
