Whenever new alliances are being looked at, it is important to strategically align yourself. In the current world, it is vital to look for people who are in line with your ideologies, thought and deeds. Here are some tips which could help you in building yourself in a positive manner.

1. Assessing contributions

Assessing one’s contributions is the first thing you look at when forming a new partnership. What do you or each partner bring to the table? What are each person’s purpose and goals? Does each partner have something unique to offer which adds value to the business relationship? These questions need to be addressed before entering into an alliance.

2. Have a solid communication process

It is but a common thing to be extremely excited to during the beginning of a new project. However, before any solid work starts, make sure you have certain things squared away. Create a communication plan. Have your talking points ready. Get your game plan figured out and only then go ahead. Hindrance in any of these strategies can cause confusion. Once this is figured out, make sure you follow up continuously as well.

3. Strategize and plan

Once you have defined and outlined all the details of your alliance, it is time to get to the bottom of things. Get your head in the game and figure out what you want from each other. This is the strategy phase where you and your new partner know exactly what is going to happen. Figure out what the roles are and who is responsible for what. This part is extremely important as it gives both the members an idea as well. You might even consider having the plan written out and signed by both parties to ensure full transparency and clarity.

4. Agreeing to the terms

Once you have finished analyzing and squaring away the details, it is time to agree to the terms! Or disagree, if needed. The figures must add up. Nothing can be left to speculation and nothing can be left open ended. The partnership should be made in a way where you and your partner have everything clearly chalked out. In case of an unplanned emergency, it is also important to have your exit clauses ready!

5. Have your partner’s interests at heart

Think about how your new partner will benefit from this alliance. Think about the ideas or concept which benefit your partner. When that happens, it will help in creating harmony between you and your new partner. The definition of trust is the other feeling you have their best interest in mind. This is particularly important when creating new projects. The more you think about their benefit, the more successful the partnership will be.
