Failure has always been called a stepping stone to success or vital to the growth of any person, not just an entrepreneur. Almost every entrepreneur has experienced some form a failure in their journey right from the original idea not being good enough to the product or service bombing in the market. But every entrepreneur will agree that these failures have helped them grow and reach tremendous heights.
But why is accepting failure often the best option to succeed in life? Unless an entrepreneur is able to embrace their failures and accept their mistakes and miscalculations, moving forward is not possible. Although accepting and acknowledging one’s own mistakes is easier said than done, it is the only way out of the vicious circle of repeating the same mistakes in life and at work. Failure helps put things into perspective and gain knowledge about the shortcomings and overall mistakes that could have been avoided, should have been avoided and could not be avoided. It helps to plan the next phase of life with the lessons of the past and move ahead in the right direction.
Starting your own venture is a risky decision. They have the power to make you rich and to bring you down to rags. The world’s greatest entrepreneurs have understood the risks, acknowledged the commitments, accepted failures as part and parcel of life and learned something new with every experience. While any form of success is a huge boost to morale, it is important to remember that every hiccup and every problem leads up to the final success. Situations can never be completely in our control and sometimes failure is inevitable. But you can either learn from it and run from it. Failure analysis helps to project realistic expectations not just to yourself but also to your investors, employees and stakeholders. Analysing where and how you messed up can help in avoiding future glitches, be less surprised by the outcomes and more prepared in the long run.
If success is the destination in any entrepreneurial journey then failures are the pit stops. Every time something does not go your way, take a step back, analyze what happened, take a deep breath, stretch, eat and then try again because every end marks a new beginning.
