Cat Phones Launches Cat S60 In India With In-Built Thermal Camera
After being showcased at Mobile World Congress 2016, the Cat S60 rugged smartphone was launched in India on Thursday. This is the first ever thermal imaging smartphone that forms an image using infrared radiation. These smartphones will be available in high end multi brand retail outlets.
Cat or Caterpillar is a US based mobile machinery manufacturing company. The phone’s highlight feature is the inbuilt “FLIR Lepton Thermal Microcamera Module on the rear panel. There are interesting uses of this thermal camera as of:
- They can detect heat loss around windows and doors
- Spot moisture and missing insulation
- Identify overheating electrical appliances and circuitry
- One can view in complete darkness
Apart from the thermal camera, the Cat S60 is known for its rugged durability to withstand extreme temperatures, as well as shocks and drops. And this phone can withstand immersion in up to 5 meters of water for up to 1 hour.
Apart from the FLIR thermal camera, the phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera with underwater capabilities and Dual LED flash as well as a 5 megapixel front facing camera.
This rugged smartphone weighs around 223 grams. It is powered by a nonremovable 3800 mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 30 hours of talk time and 43 days of standby time.
Priced at Rs. 64,999, this smartphone could be a significant rival to many other high-end competitors.
